Since 1986, the
Delaware Community Foundation has been connecting people who care
with the causes they care about by helping them establish charitable
funds and provide grants to the nonprofit organizations they wish to
support. Many of our donors who care about education choose to
create scholarship funds to provide opportunities for individuals,
like you, to help with rising college costs. Last year the
Foundation supported local students by awarding 308 scholarships
ranging from $375 to $5,000 for a total of more than $355,000.
This year the
Delaware Community Foundation is pleased to announce a number of
improvements in our scholarship program. Beginning February 2009, students will be able to apply for scholarships by downloading our
application form or applying online. If you complete your form
online, you will have the option to apply for any scholarship with
the DCF that you may be eligible for by completing just one
application. Our new service will screen each individual’s
credentials, determine his or her eligibility for other scholarships
and automatically submit the student for other possible awards.
Those determined to be eligible may be given multiple scholarships
and there is no cap on the number or amount of the awards they
receive.
You’ll find a
complete alphabetical listing of the scholarships we have available
in this section of our website. You will be able
to also download our Delaware Community Foundation Scholarship
Compendium, Fall 2008. In this guide, you’ll find the criteria and
information about each award. The submission deadline for most of
our scholarships is April 15, 2009.
Our goal is to
connect people who care about education with people like you who
care about their future. Please carefully review our Compendium; we
believe it will be time well spent. If you have any questions about
scholarship opportunities with the Delaware Community Foundation,
please feel free to contact Richard Gentsch, Executive Vice
President by calling 302.571.8004 or email
rgentsch@delcf.org.
