Roy McCune - Jeannette and Rosemary Fund

LeRoy K. McCune has seen first-hand the great influence that a mother's loving care and wise counsel has on the character and behavior of her children. He has also observed the DCF's strong commitment to Delaware's children.

Therefore, when Roy decided to create a charitable fund to help Delaware's children, he came to the DCF and established the Jeannette and Rosemary Fund. The fund is a memorial to two special mothers and the wonderful children they raised. Jeannette was Roy's first wife and the mother of his three children. Rosemary was Roy's second wife and the mother of his five stepchildren.

"Thoughtfulness and care about children in their formative years goes a long way. It is my hope that this memorial fund will help provide loving care and wise counsel to many youngsters, some of whom might otherwise stray aimlessly into troubled lives," noted Roy McCune. He is particularly interested in educational and personal development programs, including mentoring, after school activities, preschool programs and group programs in the arts and sports.

Roy, who is retired from DuPont, started his donor-advised fund at the DCF in December 1999 with appreciated stock, and plans to add to it annually in continuing support of the DCF's programs for children. He expressed confidence that "the Foundation will determine how best to use the assets of the fund on behalf of Delaware children long after I'm gone."
