Lucille Jones

Lucille Jones didn’t think she was too young to make plans for leaving a lasting legacy to the community when she turned 50, so she included a bequest to the DCF in her will.

Lucille decided it made a lot of sense to put the “Lucille Jones Fund at DCF” in her will, rather than listing specific charities. She likes the idea that she can indicate to the DCF what the focus of her giving is today, then as circumstances change, make changes in her fund’s beneficiaries. “Organizations change, environments change – what you hope to accomplish may not happen,” she observed. She knows the Foundation will use its best judgment to carry out her wishes.

Lucille first learned about the DCF when she was treasurer of Friends of Rockwood. She helped the organization start a nonprofit endowment fund at the Foundation when she realized that other nonprofits trusted the DCF with their funds. “I felt it was a better way to invest our assets,” she said. As a Senior Financial Consultant at DuPont at the time, Lucille also was impressed with the caliber of the members of the DCF Investment Committee.

In addition to the flexibility and solid investment management provided by the DCF, Lucille appreciates the DCF’s focus on “our community.” In addition to her work with Friends of Rockwood, her community involvement includes being a lay reader at Church of the Ascension. Among her community interests are more effective approaches to teaching and humane treatment of animals.

By creating the Lucille Jones Fund, a deferred fund at the DCF, Lucille is making certain that she will have a lasting impact on the community.
