Kent-Sussex Industries

Kent-Sussex Industries is dedicated to “Building the Future” for individuals with special needs by providing rehabilitation services and employment training. This nonprofit agency is connecting about 280 individuals with the community through the businesses it runs and the work crews it places with area employers.

To make certain that future generations will also have the specialized assistance they need to obtain and maintain an optimal level of employment, KSI established an endowment fund at the Delaware Community Foundation in 1989 and is continuing to build the fund.

“The DCF was offering something extremely important to nonprofits,” says CEO Clifford T. Crouch, “and our Board of Directors understood the need for the fund.”

Although nonprofit agencies are offered gift planning services through the DCF, KSI decided to institute its own planned giving program a few years ago. The agency actively cultivates donors and has built an endowment of more than $75,000 (through 2001) to help secure its financial future.

KSI is among close to 100 nonprofit organizations that have established endowment funds at the DCF.  We are helping them achieve the financial stability needed to carry out their missions forever. Some of these agencies also have funds at the DCF that help them meet more immediate needs or provide scholarships.
