Mission
The Fund For Women's mission is to provide funding to enhance the worth and potential of women and girls in Delaware by bringing together the collective philanthropic power of women.

The Fund for Women

Created in 1993, The Fund For Women of the Delaware Community Foundation is a permanent endowment and additional source of funding for programs that address the unmet needs of women and girls in Delaware. The original goal of the Fund was to obtain 1,000 Founders, each contributing $1,000 to create a $1 million lasting endowment. To become a Founder, you may make a one-time pledge or make contributions over a five-year period.

More than 1,000 men and women have become Founders, and due to their generosity and fundraising success, the endowment now exceeds $2.5 million. Nearly $1 million alone has been raised through their fundraising efforts with the Swingin' With a Star Golf Tournament.

The Fund For Women includes The Fund For Women Leadership Fund, as well as the Mary E. Copper Memorial Fund, Lynn Estes Friess Fund, Sally J. Knox Memorial Fund, Clara Miller Trust Fund, Betsy Rawls Fund, and the Marjory Stone Memorial Fund.

Fund For Women Grants

The Fund For Women focuses its grant making on programs relating to the education of girls and women in health, wellness and life skills that lead to future economic self-sufficiency. Grant awards have provided prenatal care, housing, abuse counseling, legal assistance, medical care, scholarship programs and job training. Financial literacy, arts enrichment, science and sports programs have also been funded. Grant applications are made annually on a competitive basis beginning in November each year. Applications are due January 31 with the awards announced in May. A total of $130,000 in grants was awarded in May 2010 to 13 nonprofit organizations.
