James and Deborah Fallows, journalists and authors of Our Towns: A 100,000-Mile Journey into the Heart of America, will present the 2019 DCF Building Opportunity Keynote on Nov. 6 at the HOTEL DUPONT in Wilmington.

The event also will be livestreamed at Laurel Public Library, Lewes Public Library and the Paradee Center in Dover, through partnerships with Sussex County Libraries and the State Department of Human Resources.

Join hundreds of other Delawareans in discussing how we can build opportunity in Delaware towns, inspired by ideas the Fallowses have gathered while visiting dozens of rebounding towns across America over the past five years.

The Wilmington event also will feature a Take Action Fair, where attendees can sign up to get involved through a variety of DCF programs and partnerships.

The Building Opportunity Keynote and Take Action Fair will be the culmination of the DCF’s 2019 Building Opportunity initiative. Over the past several months, nearly 500 Delawareans throughout the state have been reading and discussing Our Towns in DCF Book Circles. In partnership with Delaware Humanities, the DCF gave away hundreds of copies of the book, along with reading guides, to individuals and to various libraries.

This is the second annual DCF Building Opportunity Keynote, following last year’s presentation by Dr. Robert Putnam, author of Our Kids: The American Dream in Crisis.

The 2019 Building Opportunity Keynote in Wilmington is sponsored by the 1916 Fund, ChristianaCare and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware. The Southern Delaware sponsor is the Cape May-Lewes Ferry.

Tickets for the Building Opportunity Keynote in Wilmington are $30. Registration is free to attend one of the three free livestream locations. For more information, visit delcf.org/keynote.
