The Fund for Women (FFW) at the Delaware Community Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of Ginger Weiss as the 2021 Driving Force Award awardee.  The Driving Force Award is presented annually to a Founder or FFW group who has gone above and beyond in moving FFW forward to achieve its mission of empowering women and girls in Delaware to meet their potential.

A Founder for 26 years, Weiss has been an active part of the New Castle County Development Committee for many years and is always looking for opportunities to connect FFW to the community. In the past several years, she has helped connect the FFW with multiple local events, such as Taste of the Holidays, allowing us to grow our Founder base and fundraising capability. Weiss has been personally responsible for bringing in numerous new Founders to New Castle County through her expansive network. Additionally, Weiss has served in an important informal consulting role to many FFW leaders.

Weiss graduated from Queens College, City University of New York, and began teaching elementary school in Wilmington, Del.  After teaching, she began a successful career in insurance and financial services. As a Series 6 and 63 Securities professional with licenses in Life, Accident and Health Insurance, Weiss has been providing her clients with expert guidance to secure their financial future for the past 40 years. Weiss works with individuals, business owners and professionals to protect their families and business. In 2015 Weiss was featured in the debut edition of Financial Services: Women at the Top, a Women in Insurance and Financial Services Research Study.

A proud mother of three grown children and six grandchildren, Weiss lives in Wilmington with her partner Barry Schlecker where they support and produce multiple well-known arts events, the most notable of which is the Brandywine Festival of the Arts. Her additional volunteer activities include the Jewish Federation of Delaware, Indivisible Highlands & Beyond, and Kutz Senior Living Campus Board for the past 10 years.
