October 2018
Dear Fundholder,
As we close the books on the first quarter of fiscal year 2019, we have several exciting updates to share with you:
- Our November 14 Building Opportunity Leadership Lecture, featuring world renowned author and political scientist Prof. Robert D. Putnam, continues to gain momentum. Both ticket sales and Book Circle sign-ups are gratifyingly strong. Thanks to our partnership with Delaware Humanities, 450 free copies of Prof. Putnam’s book Our Kids: The American Dream in Crisis have been distributed throughout the state. There is still time to sign up to attend this event.
- We, Discover Bank and the Longwood Foundation are piloting social impact investing in Delaware with the Blood Bank of Delmarva. This pay-for-success initiative aims to increase the number of millennials donating blood.
- We welcomed Rebecca Klug, marketing and communications associate, to the foundation. Rebecca joins us after serving with several local nonprofit organizations.
