The Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) is seeking an outgoing individual committed to making a difference through the growth of philanthropy in Southern Delaware. This position is responsible for increasing the assets of the DCF by cultivating new relationships and stewarding existing relationships in the region south of the C&D Canal.
The Vice President for Southern Delaware provides operational oversight of the DCF Georgetown office including daily operations and support of all cultivation activities, communication and special events generated by the Georgetown office. It supervises one staff person, manages the activities of an advisory committee and acts as liaison with related community groups. This position is the public face of DCF in Southern Delaware and is responsible for representing the DCF in the community.
Must be a team player that shares and exhibits the DCF values of passion for improving the lives of the people of Delaware and delight in the joy of philanthropy. Candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to building a strong active network in Southern Delaware. A significant track record of building, maintaining, and tracking long-term relationships necessary. Attention to detail critical. Comfort with basic administrative work, technology, and CRM systems also needed.
Ideal candidates will be willing and able to be fully integrated into the Southern Delaware community and to learn and use a wide variety of philanthropic and financial planning tools to maximize the impact of a donor’s gift both for the donor and for the community. Occasional evening and weekend obligations should be expected. Previous experience with a community foundation a plus. The DCF is open to considering a flexible schedule for the right candidate.
Candidates with the following traits will be given the most serious consideration:
- 7+ years of client relationship building and stewardship;
- Basic understanding of charitable, planned giving and financial planning tools;
- Project, budget, staff and volunteer management;
- Sales and marketing experience;
- Existing networks in Southern Delaware;
- Knowledge of community foundations;
- Availability to begin work in April 2019.
