At this free community event, held Oct. 7, 2019, at the Georgetown campus of Delaware Technical and Community College and hosted in partnership with La Colectiva de Delaware, participants learned how to get involved with promising collaborative projects building opportunity and improving quality of life for Latino Delawareans in Sussex County.

The event began with a presentation and discussion of a research study commissioned by the DCF, Perspectives on the Latino Population in Sussex County, Delaware, then moved into deeper-dive conversations to learn more about work currently underway and explore collaborations. Conversations focused on:

  • Navigating the Path to Permanent Residency
  • Family Literacy
  • Pipelines to Higher Education
  • Resource Navigation Supports
  • Youth Leadership

La Colectiva de Delaware is a network of nonprofit providers, school and community leaders and Latino community members that inspires, advances and facilitates the development of sustainable collaborative approaches to improve the lives of Latino youth and families.

Initiated as a partnership between La Esperanza, the Matt Haley Trust and the Arsht-Cannon Fund in late 2017, the La Colectiva Network continues to thrive thanks to its new leadership and the engagement of a growing number of statewide and Latino community partners.

For questions or more information, please contact Sarah Grunewald, vice president for community impact.
