2020 End-of-Year Giving

Charitable gifts can be made through midnight on Dec. 31
to qualify for the 2020 tax year,
even if the DCF offices are closed!

About Making Tax-Advantaged Charitable Gifts through the DCF

If you wish to make a gift within the 2020 tax year, you may give by:

Credit Card
Complete your transaction by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31. You can:

  • Give to the DCF Leadership Campaign, OR
  • Give to an existing fund at the DCF, OR
  • Establish a new charitable fund. If the DCF office is closed, we can still accept your gift for the 2020 tax year and complete paperwork to establish the new fund in 2021.

Check
Mail and postmark your check by Dec. 31.

Stock
Your broker must provide transfer instructions to the DCF’s broker by Dec. 31. Please talk to your broker in advance. For assistance, contact Joan Hoge-North at 302.504.5224 as soon as possible.

Other Non-Cash Assets
The DCF accepts many illiquid assets as charitable gifts. The amount of time needed to accept these gifts varies. To discuss the possibilities, contact Joan Hoge-North at 302.504.5224.

About Making Grants from Your Fund at the DCF

To make a grant recommendation from your donor advised fund, log in to DonorCentral®or use this form.

Checks are typically issued on the first and 15th of each month. In December, checks are issued more frequently.

If a grant recommendation is submitted before Dec. 20, funds will be issued to the nonprofit by Dec. 31. If a grant recommendation is submitted after Dec. 20, we will do everything we can to deliver funds by the end of the year.

Please remember, fundholders do not realize a tax benefit when grants are issued from existing charitable funds, so issuance after Dec. 31, 2020 will not affect 2020 taxes.
